A storyteller experience

Nestled in the Ring of Gullion, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, lies Slieve Gullion Forest Park. It is the home of legendary figures and mythic stories, and is a place where geology, archaeology and cultural heritage comes to life.

We created the Story Trail to immerse visitors at Slieve Gullion Forest Park in an experience that reveals the intriguing character of the area. Now, you can follow in the footsteps of the legendary giant Fionn Mac Cumhaill and explore the stories associated with the Ring of Gullion.

Our interpretation weaves a suite of physical interventions and delivery mechanisms throughout the park to reveal the stories of the area. Lectern panels contain content that connects people to the landscape of the Ring of Gullion and its cultural heritage. These are complimented by various discovery elements and augmented digital experiences, which add an extra layer to the visitor experience around the park.

Working closely with landscape architects, the Paul Hogarth Company, we introduced physical interventions within the park — look out for the life-size model of Culann’s hound! We also introduced new orientation markers which provide a consistent and easy-to-navigate visitor experience across Slieve Gullion Forest Park.

We worked with a local illustrator to bring the mythic stories of the Ring of Gullion to vibrant life. These illustrations were incorporated into our family-orientated activity guide, Fionn’s Giant Adventure, which offers an interactive trail for Slieve Gullion’s youngest explorers!

Our interpretation at Slieve Gullion Forest Park instils a strong ‘sense of place’ that weaves together the area's myths and legends with a touch of magic, creating a unique and memorable experience for visitors.
