Hillsborough Castle’s first-ever exhibition documents the British Royal Family’s ever-evolving relationship with the camera over the last 200 years.
Working with the in-house interpretation team at Historic Royal Palaces, we devised an exhibition display system which helped to transform the former shop into a small gallery. Our spatial design helped to maximise the use of the available space, working with the existing architecture and creating a flexible framework for interpretation and display.
Free-standing walls, new graphic panel display and integrated AV screens were the main components of the exhibition. We completed the graphic design and artwork for the exhibition panels, aligning with the established HRP brand guidelines. We also designed the layout of the framed photographic prints from notable photographers such as Rankin, Cecil Beaton and Annie Leibovitz.
“We were delighted to open Hillsborough Castle and Garden’s first ever exhibition in June, in our newly created Stable Yard Gallery. Spanning 200 years of photography, the exhibition has been redesigned for our new gallery space to feature a host of well-known photographers, as well as some special images of members of the Royal Family enjoying time at Hillsborough Castle.”
