A centrepiece of Tandem’s exhibition at the Visitor Centre, a bold typographic installation celebrating the heritage of Derwent Valley inspired a wider application of the graphic on souvenir items for purchase in the adjacent retail space. The design depicts a clear, contemporary graphic overview of the names and related icons of the 17 sites along the 15-mile stretch of the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site.
The graphic now features on a range of items including mugs, coasters, calendars and food packaging to create a recognisable product range, which ties in closely with the exhibition and reinforces increased awareness of the World Heritage Site in a wider context beyond the Visitor Centre.
Detailed watercolour drawings of the historic buildings on site, by illustrator Stephen Conlin, also formed a charming component of the exhibition. These were reproduced on a selection of unique souvenir products, allowing visitors to take a piece of their Cromford experience home with them.
